Add Higgsfield's connector to Claude, pick a Katana preset, write one prompt for a motion-graphics edit, and see the credit cost before it renders.

Not technical? Start here. Copy this prompt into ChatGPT or Claude and it walks you through the whole guide, one step at a time, in plain English. It asks before it assumes anything and checks with you before anything that costs money, reaches a real customer or deletes something. The rest of the page is the same guide, written out, if you'd rather do it yourself.
The setup helper prompt (copy all of it) · lines 1-1 of 26. Copy all copies the whole prompt; read it in full on the page.
Hi. Please be my patient setup helper. I run a business and I'm not technical, so go one step at a time, tell me exactly what to click or type, and wait for me to say done before the next step.Hi. Please be my patient setup helper. I run a business and I'm not technical, so go one step at a time, tell me exactly what to click or type, and wait for me to say done before the next step.
Goal: connect Higgsfield (an AI image and video company) to Claude with Higgsfield's connector, then make my first short animation with Katana, Higgsfield's editing skill inside Claude, from one written prompt. I want to see the credit cost before anything gets made. Follow this guide; it's the source of truth for every step:
https://receiptsgroup.com/guides/higgsfield-claude-katana
Words to explain to me in plain English the first time you use them: connector, custom connector, MCP, sign in and approve access, credits, Katana, preset, reference video, generation, moderation.
Steps:
1. Ask me if I have a Claude account and which plan. Claude's free plan can add one custom connector; if I already have one on the free plan, tell me, and stop before any upgrade: that costs money, so I decide.
2. Ask me if I have a paid Higgsfield plan. Higgsfield says the connector needs an active paid subscription and every generation uses credits. If I don't have one, show me the plans from the guide's cost table and stop. I decide if I buy one.
3. Walk me through adding the connector in Claude (claude.ai or the Claude desktop app): open Connectors (Anthropic's help puts it under Customize > Connectors; Higgsfield's help says Settings > Connectors), click Add custom connector, name it Higgsfield, paste https://mcp.higgsfield.ai/mcp, and continue. A Higgsfield window opens: I sign in and approve access myself. Never ask me for my password.
4. Have me start a new chat, click the + at the lower left, open Connectors and check Higgsfield is switched on.
5. When Claude asks to use a Higgsfield tool, tell me what that tool does before I click allow. Tell me not to pick Allow always on anything that makes images or videos, because there's no built-in credit cap and that click is my brake.
6. First test, free: have me paste the guide's preset-shopping prompt (it starts with /katana). It lists presets and makes nothing.
7. Help me pick one preset and write my changes with the guide's second prompt: my words on screen, what to keep, and up to five photos of my subject. If Katana opens a Higgsfield upload window, that's where my photos go; photos dropped straight into the chat don't reach it.
8. Before anything generates, show me the credit cost and wait for my yes. Only after my yes: make the video.
9. When it's done, watch it with me and check it for a customer's face, an address, a house number or a phone number I don't want out there, before I post it anywhere.
Rules: Every generation spends credits, so never generate without showing me the cost and getting my yes. Only photos of people who agreed to it, and no logos or footage I don't have the rights to. If my screen doesn't match the guide, tell me what you expected and ask me what I see; don't guess. Never ask me for a password, key or code.
House rules for this setup:
- If you use a technical word, explain it in plain English the first time.
- Ask me before you assume anything about my business, my accounts or my setup.
- Stop and check with me before anything that costs money or spends credits.
- Stop and check with me before anything that sends, posts or publishes to real people.
- Stop and check with me before you delete or overwrite anything. This is the manual way: every step, every prompt and every fix. The helper prompt above follows it too.
Every change you ask for after that is a new generation, so it can cost more credits. Katana shows the cost before each one.
Higgsfield says the connector needs an active paid subscription, and every generation through Claude uses credits, whatever plan you're on. The unlimited models and free generations on higgsfield.ai don't apply through the connector. Plans are in the cost table below.
Anthropic's help page puts it under Customize > Connectors; Higgsfield's own help says Settings > Connectors. Use whichever your Claude shows. On Claude's free plan you can add one custom connector, so if you already have one, that's your one.
Click Add custom connector (on Anthropic's page it sits behind + Add). Name it Higgsfield and paste the link below as the server URL. Then click through: Continue and Add on Anthropic's version, Connect on Higgsfield's.
Higgsfield's MCP link
https://mcp.higgsfield.ai/mcpBack in Claude, Higgsfield should be in your connectors list. Start a new chat, click the + at the lower left, open Connectors and make sure Higgsfield's switch is on.
The first time Claude wants a Higgsfield tool, it asks you. Click allow for the one you're using. I'd skip Allow always on anything that makes images or videos, because Higgsfield says there's no built-in credit cap on the connector, and that click is the only brake you've got. Anthropic says the same thing in its own words: Allow always only for tools you trust to run unsupervised.
Looking costs nothing; making does. With the Higgsfield connector on, paste this. /katana opens Katana's preset catalog in the chat, and Higgsfield sorts the presets into personalized edits, style transfer and motion transfer.
Prompt 1: shop the presets (makes nothing)
/katana
Show me the Katana presets that have big on-screen text, shapes that morph, some 3D and a camera move that flies through it. Vertical ones first, the shortest ones first. Tell me in one line what each one does. Don't generate anything. Then pick one and write your changes. Katana's output matches the reference's length, shape and frame rate, so a short vertical preset makes a short vertical video. Fill in the brackets:
Prompt 2: your edit (Example (made up), use your own words)
Use the <preset name> preset.
Change the on-screen text to my words, in this order:
"STORM HIT YOUR ROOF?"
"FREE INSPECTION THIS WEEK"
"<your company name>"
Use my photos as the subject (I'll add them in the Higgsfield upload window).
Keep the pacing, the transitions and the camera moves from the preset.
Before you generate, tell me the credit cost and wait for my yes.Use the <preset name> preset.

Before you generate, tell me the credit cost and wait for my yes.Good: it confirms the preset, lists your words in order, opens a Higgsfield upload window for your photos (up to five), and stops with a credit cost. Bad: it starts generating without a price. Stop it, and add "Never generate without showing me the cost first" to your next message.
Say yes only if the number's fine. When the video comes back, watch it all the way through. I'd try a couple of presets like this before I pick one for real work, because each one is a different look and a different cost.
Check every frame for a customer's face, an address, a house number or a phone number you don't want out there. Only use photos of people who said yes, and only footage and photos you have the rights to.
1. Remake an edit you like
Use Katana to remake this reference video with my subject and my words. Here's the reference: <upload it, or paste a direct link to the video file>. Keep its pacing, transitions and camera movement. My words on screen: <your words>. Show me the credit cost first and wait for my yes.Use Katana to remake this reference video with my subject and my words. Show me the credit cost first and wait for my yes.2. Same edit, new words
Make one more version of the last edit with different on-screen text: <new words>. Keep everything else the same. Tell me the credit cost first.3. A product or service shot
Make me an edit of this product using Higgsfield. The product is <what it is>; I'll add up to five photos in the upload window. Pick a short vertical Katana preset that fits and tell me which one and why, plus the credit cost, before you make anything.A link to a TikTok or Instagram profile doesn't work as a reference: Higgsfield says to upload the file or send a direct link to the video. Photos you drop straight into the Claude chat aren't passed to Katana either; it opens its own upload window for them.
If you already work in Claude Code (Anthropic's coding tool that runs in your terminal), Higgsfield's route there is different: no custom connector, but Higgsfield's command-line tool and its skills. Higgsfield's help says you just ask Claude Code to set it up, and it runs these three. You finish the sign-in in the browser window that opens.
What Claude Code runs (Higgsfield's help article)
npm i -g @higgsfield/cli
higgsfield auth login
npx skills add higgsfield-ai/skillsSame account, same credits, same paid plan. To disconnect it later, you log out through the command-line tool.
Checked 2026-10-31 on Claude's pricing page and Higgsfield's pricing explainer (published 2026-10-24). Higgsfield says tiers and allowances vary by region: check higgsfield.ai/pricing before you buy.
How the credits work: what one video costs depends on the model, the resolution and the length, so there's no flat price per animation. Subscription credits reset every cycle and don't roll over. Credit packs are one-time buys and expire 90 days after you buy them.
Corrections that need a new generation cost more credits. So for most people it's the smallest Higgsfield plan plus the Claude plan you already have, and then a couple of short test runs to see what your style actually costs.
Start a new chat, click the + at the lower left, open Connectors and switch Higgsfield on. Then start your message with /katana.
The free plan allows one custom connector. Remove the other one under Connectors, or move to a paid Claude plan; that costs money, so it's your call.
The connector needs an active paid Higgsfield subscription, and the free and unlimited generations on higgsfield.ai don't apply through it. Wait for your plan's reset or buy a credit pack (it expires in 90 days).
There's no built-in cap. Don't use Allow always on tools that generate, put "Show me the credit cost and wait for my yes" in every prompt, and remember every correction that needs a new generation costs again.
Photos attached straight into the Claude chat don't reach Katana. Use the Higgsfield upload window it opens in the conversation, up to five photos.
TikTok and Instagram profile links don't work. Upload the video file, or paste a direct link to the video file.
Katana matches the reference's length, shape and frame rate. Pick a vertical preset or reference of the length you want.
Higgsfield's moderation can decline some generations. Change the words, the photos or the reference and try again.
To edit it, remove it and add it again (Anthropic's rule). To turn it off: Connectors, then Higgsfield, then Disconnect (or Remove).
What each page backs up is listed at the end of the full guide.
One connector, one prompt on top of a preset you picked, and a credit price before every render. That's how you get the motion-designer look without dragging a single keyframe.
