Questionthe short answer

AI product photography software cost: what do you actually pay?

By Eric Snyder, founderUpdated Oct 31, 2026

AI product photography can cost you nothing to start, and if you use ChatGPT, which is what I'd use, the plans most owners would look at run from $0 to $20 a month. On OpenAI's pricing page, as of October 31, 2026, Free is $0 with limited image creation, Go is $8 a month with more image creation, and Plus is $20 a month with more complex and accurate image creation. OpenAI doesn't publish a fixed number of images per plan, so you find out where your limit is when ChatGPT tells you you've hit it.

So I'd start on Free and only pay once you know it's worth it. Upload one clear photo of what you sell, make a poster with no words on it, and see if the product still looks like yours. If it does and you keep running into the limit, then Go or Plus makes sense. What actually costs you money isn't the plan, it's posting an ad with a wrong digit in your phone number, because then you're paying to send calls to a stranger. The whole setup, the three prompts and the check I run are in my guide to making three ads from one product photo.
