You sign in to Outlook with your work account, select the Copilot button near the top of the app, and ask it things in plain words. Microsoft's Copilot requirements say it works with supported versions of classic Outlook and new Outlook for Windows and Mac, and anything that reads your email needs an Exchange Online mailbox. Microsoft also renamed it: Microsoft 365 Copilot is now just Microsoft Copilot, and some pages still use the old name, so don't let the names throw you.
Copilot Chat comes with an eligible Microsoft 365 business plan. The paid add-on is what lets it work across your whole inbox, calendar, meetings and files, and on Microsoft's pricing page the Copilot Business add-on was $21 a user a month paid yearly, or $25.20 billed monthly, when I checked on October 31, 2026. So what I'd do is start with the stuff that saves time every single week: summarize a long thread, draft a reply, and find the promises you forgot. My step-by-step guide to Copilot in Outlook for follow-ups walks through all of it, with the prompts.
