To create an engaging Instagram Reel hook, put the concrete thing first, a number, a name or what's at stake, and keep it short enough to say in about three seconds. No greeting, no "in this video," no logo. The ig-reel skill's instructions say the video should start at the sentence you'd normally get to at second six, and I think that's dead on, because nobody scrolling cares who you are yet.
So what I'd do is write three hooks off three different formulas, not three rewrites of the same line, and score them before you film anything. The free Instagram Agent Skill comes with a little scorer that runs on your own computer and checks the length, whether there's anything concrete in it, what's at stake, whether the point is up front and who it's talking to. It flags a greeting as a dealbreaker, which, yeah, I've done that. Now, its own maker tested it and says it's good at catching weak hooks and close to a coin flip at picking which of two decent ones wins. So kill the bad ones with it and let your retention graph pick the winner. My setup guide for the free Claude Instagram skills has the exact command and a free first test.
